Wordsworth Country #4...

This is Buttermere, in the Lake District.

It's a great feeling, stumbling across a scene that you didn't really expect; that moment when you get a glimpse of something as you pass in the car and think - wait a minute...! Now, you may say - surely there's great scenery around every corner in the Lake District! And you're probably right. But what made this a bit more special was at first thinking it wasn't accessible, but then parking the car and going off the beaten track to get to the view.

But - a dilemma! In processing this image I wanted to really capture the quite dramatic scene. The clouds were low and brooding, and the slight breeze just rippled the surface of the water. So, after the initial processing I changed it to black and white, which gives it that slightly menacing feel, and I like this version a lot.

But I also like the colour version. The colours really were as beautiful as this...

So that's the dilemma - black & white or colour? Which do you like the best? Which one conveys the drama of the scene best for you? Why not drop me a comment and let me know.
