A Quilt of Many Colours...

This is a view of part of the Brecon Beacons National Park in Wales. It's a wonderful view from the top of the hill - just a fairly short, gentle, uphill walk from the National Park Visitor Centre. The fields, with their varying shapes, sizes, colours and shades, are laid out like a huge patchwork quilt thrown over the earth for as far as the eye can see.

It's interesting that the borders of these fields are, for the most part, made up of hedges, bushes, and even trees. In the north of England, particularly, the fields are bounded by drystone walls.
